Tangled Shoelaces - 4 Track EP

While I'm in a Brisbane bands type mood, here is a gem from 1984,
the Tangled Shoelaces Ep.
Tangled Shoelaces were a band of quite young and very hip guys
and girls who played quite a bit back in the early 80's.
They later became "Wonderous Fair" and appear on the 4zzz
"State of Emergence" album. This EP was released on the
M squared label and their only release. Wonderful ,whimsical
and eccentric, a great example on the Brisbane Sound.
I'm afraid I can't find any more info about these guys,
so if anybody has anything to add please do so in the comments.

Hi this is Leigh the drummer from the band Tangled Shoelaces. I am still involved in writing music and since Tangled Shoelaces I've been in bands such as, Pale, Lyngren, and currently in a band called Sofamecca. Check out www.sofamecca.net

As well as Leigh, there were the two Mackerras brothers (Stephen and Martin) - who else? Wondrous Faire were, of course, Wondrous. Who could forget their "G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S Glorious!" song they did especially for Mt Glorious. Some good stuff on myspace.

On keys was Richard Hagan, a very short-sighted computer scientist who occasionally wore a green velvet tea-cosy on his head.

A bit of tangled shoelace activity at the moment, its great. All we need is so lost demos or something to surface

Good evening. Great blog!

Don't suppose you'd be kind enough to re-upload this one? The link doesn't seem to work for me.

Thanks for all the gems!

Hi mate

just trying to figure out a mystery about this release, ie is your copy on M Squared ?? Why I am asking is mine isnt, it's not really on any label, the rather non descript label on the record just says recorded at M Squared and on the back cover distributed by Hot/M Squared - so I am wondering if mine is maybe a second pressing or something ?? Also is yours a 7 inch, the semi official M Squared site ( run by Michael Tee ) says it was a 12 inch on M Squared. Can you shed any light for me, thanks....it's these mysteries that keep me awake at night, cheers

Bruce

Well Bruce I don't know if I can help much. My copy is a 7" and like yours it says Recorded at M squared and doesn't have a record label as such. I would guess these were a self funded 7" release and perhaps M Squared did release it as a 12"

Next up Bob, a little bit of M Squared material. I'd love for a reup of this.

Cheers,

Matt
