Amanda Brown - Incognita


Amanda Brown's early bands (during the early 1980s) were Climbing
Frame,Tender Mercies (with John Willsteed, also later with the
Go-Betweens)and Blood Brothers, in which she played violin, oboe,
guitar and keyboards.


In 1986 she joined the Go-Betweens to complete what become one of
the best love line ups the band ever had, playing on both Tallulah and
16 Lovers Lane. Following the breakup of the Go-Betweens,
Brown formed the band, Cleopatra Wong (1991-1992) with former
Gobs drummer Lindy Morrison .


She also did loads of session and film soundtrack work.
In 2003 she released the Incognita soundtrack CD,
a mixture of songs and instrumentals accompanying a performance
by the Stalker Theatre Company.The performance of Incognita
toured Australia and Europe, commencing at the 2003 Sydney Festival.

    Wow, I've always wanted to hear this. Amanda also recently did a beautiful score for the soon to be released Australian film "Monkey Puzzle". The soundtrack may be released shortly after the September release of the film.

    Ah, the lovely Amanda *swoon*. My favourite song by her is Olive which she did with Boxcar a few years back. Very nice it is too.

    Who are some of the other performers on Incognita, like the vocalist on Lost in the Wilderness? Sounds like Marianne Faithful! What did you think of Olive?

    And is it just me or is Track 5 (In my Heart There's a Home for You...) a note-for-note ripoff of PJ Harvey's A Place Called Home?

    Sorry brad i have on more info than is on the disk, I'd have to find the pj song your talking about, I think I have all her stuff and compare,
    I like that Boxcar track a lot, Amanda has a very nice voice which was sadly underused in the Go-betweens.

    I suppose it happens, a song enters your subconscious, only to surface later when your writing, Mostly its only same parts that sound the same. not the whole thing
