From The Vaults - The Models

Its a real treat from Chucks library of Australian music
memorabilia. A 11 page " From the vaults" history of the
Models with complete discography, detailed band evolution
and some wicked photos. Even mention of Mark Ferrie,
his leaving and subsequent replacement with James Freud
and his next couple of bands, the Sacred Cowboys and the
Slaughtermen. Truly a great read for you Australian music
fanatics out there.
Thanks to the mighty Chuck.

  1. Thanks for that. It reminded me to chase down a copy of 'I Am the Voice Left from Drinking' James Freud's autobiography of his time with the Models.

  3. Hey guys, the James Freud book is a "good read", but I wonder how he remembered so much given how stoned he said he was!

  4. Only mistake in the article is the assertion (on page 9) that "Can't Explain" was an original unrecorded song. It wasn't. It was a cover of The Who's song, although the Models got it from "Bowie Pinups"

  5. Interested to find out about the UK LP version of Alphabravo.... with the different mixes and re-recorded tracks. I'll have to chase down a copy of that and post it up.

  6. ps. meant to say UK LP of 'Local and/or General'.

  7. Yep, Local was remixed rather than re-recorded, according to the liners. Track lengths are all quite different as well, plus new versions of Atlantic Romantic and Two Cabs, both originally from Cut Lunch! I haven't a turntable at the moment to take a rip of it... :(

  9. If someone can recommend a person in Sydney who can do a quality rip for a cheap price, I'd be interested! Then I'll upload for you and others.

I'm working on scanning the tip-in and labels, etc at the moment.

Am basking in the goodness that is Models of late, and wondering why it took me THIS LONG to remember them? :)
