Rockin for the homeless - Redcliffe Leagues Club, 29/4/2018
It was a fantastic line up for the annual rockin for the homeless
fundraising concert.
Lots of great local talent and great performances
The money raised goes to the breakfast club, a local organization
that provides food and support for the homeless all year
The Rockin for the homeless is organized by Dan Nebe
who also is the lead singer for Team Utopia who also played a
fantastic set on the night
Also Dan is my cousin as those who know me would guess
from the same surname
First up of the bands I saw and I got there about 7.30 and it started
at 3 so there was a lot before, was the band in the pics above
the dirty liars
They are a punk outfit from Brisbane who put a blistering show
Next up was Sabrina Lawrie and the hunting party described as
rock with psychedelia and dark pop, wonderfully heavy riff laden
it was groovy to say the least.
After Sabrina was the fast and furious Team Utopia.
These guys have really taken off recently, landed some great gigs
recorded some more great tunes, I've heard them on 4ZzZ at few
times now. They put on a great show last night
and are definitely crowd favs.
Diana Anaid was up next, shes been around a long time now
I remember hearing stuff years ago and thinking she was
very much like Ani Difranco, I didnt get that last night
she has found her own voice and its one of a kind
It was a great performance
Shes playing few shows up here including one at the
milk factory in west end on the 4th of may
and the stones corner festival on the 6th
The headline act was of course a rare unplugged show
from two of the Hoodoo Gurus who put on a great set of
all those Guru favorites.
Around a great night and a signed guitar by the guys went
for almost $3000 raising even more money for the breakfast club
