Chuck brings us this single of Melbourne’s St Kilda band
I Spit On Your Gravy. They existed between 1983 and 1988
and released this one single in 1987.
Clownfishdesign has added this information
They did release two albums, and two tracks on the
"Eat Your Head" compilation.
Their first album "St. Kilda's Alright!" was notorious for being
confiscated by the Vice Squad a week or so after it came out.
I bought my copy under the counter at Polyester!
It was later reissued after a court case.
Thanks Clownfish
And thanks Chuck

Saw this band in Ipswich way back then, very strange to say the least.
Haven't heard this one for years.
THANKS!
Yeah still around here and there tho mostly still in St Kilda, Mr Fred Negro. One of the advantages of living in Melboune is his PUB comic strip every week in Inpress...PS yr sleeve was posted today, sorry about the delay...hopefully you haven't moved from H. Ave!
Regards/
Great to hear from you Bazzil, I think you have seen a few strange bands in your time, Ive seen your residents photos.
Hey Mona I should of guessed you would know of these guys, Can't wait for the cover and i'm still living in the same place
I remember this getting airplay on 4ZZZ because they had an unforgettable name. Was it that long ago!? Gee you have some great stuff Chuck.

Sorry Topper I havent got that, anyone else?
Clownfish thanks for the info, goes to show how unreliable the internet can be, I shall update the post
I could send you the "Eat Your Head" tracks (I haven't ripped the vinyl of St. Kilda's alright, but I could be persuaded) plus scans, if you like.
I don't have it, but their second album - which this single came from - was called "Fruitloop City".
I've also got a live tape rotting away somewhere.
There was also a one-off band called the GravyGrinders, consisting of members of the Gravies and the Corpse Grinders, who got together to perform the "Never Mind The Bollocks" album on its 10th anniversary.
I have a tape of that somewhere, too.
I would love to hear the "Eat Your Head" tracks and if you could rip the St. Kilda's alright that would be smashing.
I think ther would be a few other very happy people as well.
Thanks , sounds like you have a great collection
I can get you the "Eat your head" tracks right away - the others will take a little longer.
I'll upload the stuff with yousendit - where should I send the email to?
Um ... I should probably have said you can email me at clownfish_au@yahoo.com.au
I made a sweet sounding rip of Fruit Loop City if anyone wants it
Sure thing, post a link here or contact me via the facebook link and Im post it up on the main page, thanks!

Thank you Mr Anon!!
My brother, Mark 'sausage fingers' Carson played bass guitar in this band. Has played in a few bands since The Gravies....Drivers Eyes, where he played double bass, was one of his last bands that did the Melbourne pub circuit
Can someone get a message to the ex-Polyster crew to start selling their entire back catalogue in lossless format on Bandcamp? I'm itching to buy I Spit On Your Gravy, The Wet Ones, etc etc.
