Club Hoy

Some singles, an Ep and an album from Club Hoy a Sydney band
that existed from 1989 to 1993.
Tony send in all this wonderful music and a bit of background below,
thanks Tony.

Grant McLennan produced Club Hoys first single "On And On"
(which is here in a ripped mp3 from youtube clip only)
and then the track "Water My Toes" from the Da Da Da Da EP
(the other tracks were produced by Radio Bordman frontman,
Rob Younger).
Note apart from the "On And On" tack all other tracks are mp3
rips from the original CDs.

Apart from the Grant McLennan connection the Club Hoy drummer,
Vince Sheehan, was also the drummer for John Kennedy's
Love Gone Wrong.

Here's a cut and paste of info from the Australian Rock Databse website:

Nice band. I caught them live at The Pineapple Hotel one night. Yes the Pinney did have some good bands back in the day.

Thanks for this collection, I was missing a couple of tracks. I still listen to my Club Hoy after 20 years and they still sound as fresh today as they did then. When I need to lift myself out of some hole or when I want to celebrate life, their gorgeous harmonies and perfectly simple sound take me back to simpler days, and their simpler joys. Finding these missing tracks (eg Water My Toes) and hearing them for the first time is like listening to a new release. Thank you for this - you have no idea what this has done for me.

BTW You forgot that Bernie Hayes was in the band and I think maybe he ended up marrying Julia.

I was just listening to a Club Hoy track on my iPod and remembered seeing them live at the Annandale Hotel about 20 years ago. Decided to google them and great to hear other people remember them too!!

Good memories. I wrote for a street press in Perth and interviewed them a few times in early '90s. From memory they broke up rather bitterly (sadly).

OMG
I just googled for Club Hoy cos I had their "On and On" Single as mp3 and wanted to know when it was released. It was my absolute favorite
song of the late 80s.

Then I found your site and the Club Hoy collection you offer but...
ALL LINKS ARE DEAS!!! :-(((

Any chance to upload it again??
A big fan from Germany would love you for that. I loved the Go-Betweens too, the Aussie guitar bands sound so unique...

Hi Bob,
thanx again for the great upload.
I must assert that "(Stay) With Me" is one of the B-Sides of the "On and On" 7-Inch. And my mp3 version of the title track is the original vinyl rip-off, so it sounds much better than your Youtube-Version. Seems only 3rd Song "Lucy" is missing now...

Here I have uploaded the On and On tracks I have:

What are the lyrics for 'On and On'? For the life of me I just can't make them out.

Feeling very nostalgic now. Thanks!

I remember seeing them at the Macquarie Uni bar in 1990 or '91. They were brilliant!

Club Hoy are doing a one-off reunion gig at the Camelot Lounge, Marrickville on November 22 2013. Penny Flanagan has played a couple of solo shows and will be opening this show as will Julia Richardson.
