The Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane Acoustic Demos

A gem and maybe one of the rarest official items from the band.
This freebie was given away with the issue 58 of the
French magazine Les Inrockuptibles
Posted on the day of the release of Robert Forster's 1st
solo Lp since Grant's death and the end of the Go-betweens
is released. Today Robert is doing an in store appearance
in town at Rocking Horse Records and I hope to not only
buy "the evangelist" but get it signed.
This CD is a 10 out of 10, studio recorded, acoustic
demos, of possibly their best album, a must for any fan.
I will post on the in store appearance later.

Thanks Bob.

This is not strictly speaking a bootleg, but maybe one of the rarest official items from the band. This freebie was given away with the issue 58 of the French magazine Les Inrockuptibles. Anyway, it´s a great record!

Bob this is a gem, i've read of it but until now never heard it. i still recall the feeling i had the first time i heard "i need 2 heads" in '81, (the power of that single reminded me much of the same feeling i had when i first heard "psycho killer" in 77), robert and grant and lindy certainly had something very special.
cheers
steve

I still have a copy of the original 7 in single "i need to heads" fantastic song and i first saw the gobs play when they were touring for "before Hollywood" and still a 3 piece. I'm glad i saw them then cause by the next Lp they had started adding members and changing instruments, still awesome but different.
Glad you finally get to hear these demos

St├ęphane is right : this was a free CD given with the french magazine Les Inrockuptibles in 1996.

Here is the front page :
http://img370.imageshack.us/my.php?image=page01zk6.jpg

The title can be translated as : The Go-Betweens, the most underrated band in the rock history ?

I've also scanned the 8-page interview if you are interested in :

Thanks for your nice blog.

Chris (from France)

PS : Unfortunately, the pages are a little bit too large for my old scanning machine. And of course, the all interview is in french. But there are also some nice black & white pictures of the band.
