I like to have a soundtrack to my life and perhaps this is the
best fit for me at the moment.
The Go-Betweens are this band that takes everyday life
and turns it into something special, an adventure.
And of course there's plenty of adventure here on this tribute
album, I've added Ed Kuepper's version of Grants most hauntingly
beautiful tune Finding You, which he transforms to something
very special.
So for me and anyone else who feels they are embarking on a new
adventure, try this wonderful record.
Finding You - Grant McLennan
What would you do if you turned around
And saw me beside you
Not in a dream but in a song?
Would you float like a phantom
Or would you sing along?
Don't know where I'm going
Don't know where it's flowing
But I know it's finding you
What would you do
If you saw me driving by in a car
The quickest you've ever seen me spin?
Would you smile and wave
Or would you bow and get in?
Don't know where I'm going
Don't know where it's flowing
But I know it's finding you
But then the lightning finds us
Burns away our kindness
We can't find a place to hide
Come the rainy season
Surrender to our treason
Can we even find our tears?
Don't know where I'm going
Don't know where it's flowing
But I know it's finding you

An amazing coincidence Chuck!
it's incredible ! I don't know why but just today Saturday 28th I decided to look for videos about the Go-Beetweens on youtube : I watched everything i could find so I became enthusiastic ! And the most surprising man for me was Robert Foster : such a provocative and funny character in the same time ! So I got the idea to listen at least !! to your sound recording at his ATP show in Brisbane (following your old advice) and what I found ? all these reviews and downloading about his recent work...did you hear my mental request Bob ? ahaha
Thanks you anyway. It's super !
Cheers
Annie
John you must be getting bob and chuck mixed up, easy i know,
this is a bob post.
So tell me what is this amazing coincidence?
Do you too need a soundtrack for
beaconing adventures.
ciao bob
Annie that is fantastic news, the Go-betweens will enrich your life.
Robert is of course fantastic.
A one of a kind, To me I think the Go-betweens should have been as big as the beatles and with such comparisons in mind, Rob was the John Lennon of the songwriting duo,
with Grant taking the Paul spot.
I always liked John better than Paul.
Ciao bob
Brisneyland is such a small country town.... John was out doing his country and western thing and along comes chuck... small town ..... :D
You crack me up chuck,
Brisneyland I'm going adopt that
Yeah Bob. Sorry for being obscure in my post but I was not too sure where to post. But as Chuck implied.....for a large city we sure are a small town at times. Now I am off to get that Necks d/load from the Judy. Thanks Chuck "Thumbs Up" :-)
ok you guys im confused
We met each other in a queue and by the power of discussion about music, Chuck dropping Ed Kuepper's name, conversation was sparked.
We ended up discovering that we knew each other via this site hence the small town comments. Sorry for the confusion Bob. Just shows the power of a great blog such as yours.
LOL that is fantastic, when my life settles down, cause its certainly a bit upside down at the moment, I'd like to meet both of you.
in a queue even, but preferably at a good gig
All I know is I saw Grant and Robert in Chicago. Excellent concert. Loved Grant's solo stuff and was crushed by his sudden death. Thanks for the nice post.
Any chance that you had the second disc to this? The live one?
Tried importing this to my pc with my own copy but the second disc is all scratched up :/
