The Riptides - Swept Away
Recorded in 1981 and produced by Graham `Buzz' Bidstrup
(ex-Angels) this "mini Lp" has 6 tracks of pure pop brilliance.
The band had by this stage released 2, 7" singles and after this
release even got on to countdown with the single from this,
the opening track
Only Time. The Riptides were of course Mark Callaghan's
band, one of the seminal late 70's Brisbane bands.
Mark went on to form the successful GANGgajang which
still plays around and to make the circle complete
Graham Bidstrup was a founding member of GANGgajang.
Track List
01 Only Time
02 Eternal Flame
03 Money For Life
04 Holiday Time

Tubular Bells for Two - Brisbane, Powerhouse, 1/02/2014
performed by Australian multi-instrumentalists Aidan Roberts and
Daniel Holdsworth. In the show the two musicians re-create Mike
Oldfield's 1973 album Tubular Bells live with over twenty instruments.
When the piece was first performed live in 1972 by Mike Oldfield
he had some 25 musicians with him on stage. The show was
incredible to watch, I must admit I have had a long time love of
the album and have even seen Mike perform parts of it live.
So I enjoyed it immensely and so have many people cause these guys
toured the show in Australia, New Zealand and Europe to
commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original Oldfield album
last year. Somehow they never got to Brisbane till now.
