Blondie - Brisbane Riverstage 13-12-12

As a teenager into all things punk and new wave Debbie was
something of a goddess and I guess she still is to me.
Not the same as that other New York goddess poet Patti
but she was the pin up girl of the New York punk scene
and Australia gave em their first hit single
Its been a long time since those days and it seems
jugding by the crowd they are still remembered by many
There is most likely never to be a more photogenic band
and lead singer so here's a heap of photos
The band were on fire, ripping through a load of Blondie
classics, I was hoping for "Picture This" which takes me
right back to 1979 every time, but songs like Atomic,
Rapture, Call Me, Hanging on the Telephone,
and Heart of Glass did it anyway.

The Stranglers - Brisbane Riverstage 13-12-12

There's a few legendary concerts in Brisbane history and the
Stranglers gig in 1979 at the Queens hotel is one of them.
I was a little young to see that and have waited many years
to see this band play. I missed them when they returned in
2009 and I'm glad I didnt this time
And they didnt let me down it was a full on performance,
from the opening bars of 5 minutes, right to the very end
They played many classic tunes from their massive back
catalogue and to my delight the song inspired from their
first visit here " Nuclear Device"

The Saints - Brisbane, Riverstage 13-12-12

Last night the Saints opened what was an amazing concert

followed by the Stranglers and to top it of Blondie!

What a gig I shall post photos and video from each

band but the one band that this Australian music

blog is concerned with is the Saints.

I have long lost count how many times I have seen 

Chris Bailey's Saints play over the years.

Through many line up changes album releases

whatever Band Chris puts together and fronts

puts a smile on my face

Last night was great, they played a short set of 45 mins

but played a couple of oldies and a few songs from

the brilliant new album

The only Saints song you shall hear on MMM our

local bland rock station "Just like fire would", met

with much excitement from the nostalgic

crowd but I was pleased to hear the new material.

The Saints Live on WFMU 21-5-05

The Saints are marching back into town this Thursday along with two
other of my teenage fav bands all on the same lineup, the Stranglers
and Blondie. Theres been some controversy over the lineup of the Saints
but its not the original lineup from the first three albums in any form
Chris Bailey continued the name the saints after the original band
spilt and like it or not he has been doing it for a long time now!
I love Chris Bailey's songs and have been a massive fan since
high school which for me was sometime back in the early 80's
So I'm excited!

The new album is a cracker so I'm expecting a great gig!
Heres a recent interview from the Brisbane Times
The Saints will also play Woodford this year and Bailey is
to take part in a panel about music and politics.

Homegrown Vol2 - Various Artists

Heres another LP from Jeff, its one of the homegrown

series from the local branch of the very commercial 

AusStereo network here in Australia which

goes by the name MMM or FM 104.

The station is not my cup of tea but there's some interesting

stuff on this rather 1980's album.

So here's the proof that MMM do a little for local music 

here in Brisbane. The Seven Ballerinas made it

on to the 1st one of these albums

I cant find any information on the continuation

of this project so I guess they gave up on local music

after this, judging by the music they play these

days I would guess that's true.
