The Necks - 16-02-05 judith wright centre, Brisbane set 2

As a taster for the big gig tomorrow Chuck has sent us
this fantastic recording of his of the necks.
For those of us who work its going to be hard to make
the necks performance which is 2nd on the bill, I
am endeavoring to be there by 4.30 to see Robert
hit the stage.

Anyways thanks to Chuck for sharing his rare and
wonderful recordings, here's all about it from Chuck.

I saw the Necks a year b4 this recording was made
at the same venue and was intrigued/excited
and mesmerized by this group -was it jazz?
Avantguard ??.. that fact that you couldn't
pigeonhole this music was all a part of the deal...
The crowd hushes b4 the start of the set..
The band finds the quiet zone and each member
starts to improvise... resulting in an 1 hour of
something special... you take a break..
and they come back and do it all again.
This recording is set 2 of 2005 gig.. set 1 had me
scratching me my head... The drummer spent 10
minutes taking his sticks out of shrink wrap... ok
its art right, but i saw this guy a year b4
and knew he was shit hot !!!
was it just a bad gig? was a bad hair day?
Break came.. got a beer... set 2 came... bang..
They were in form... drummer Tony spent nearly
45 minutes working his kit all over - magic stuff!!
after the gig the band hangs out and signs cd's etc
and the bass player smiles at me and says
" Tony was in form tonight!"
Truly excited by his own companions effort...
Now that's music!
I'll post set 1 with some art another day..
