Louis Tillett playing Brisbane and Nambour

Image may contain: one or more people and closeup

Some exceptionally exciting news, the legendary Louis Tillet is
heading up here and has put together 2 gigs which are the
Bison Bar (Nambour) Saturday 11 November and
The Junk Bar (Ashgrove) Friday 17 November.
Thanks to everyone who has been pulling to get
me some gigs up North at such short notice.
The following is from Louis from a facebook post
he made today
If it's not too much to ask could you please advise
whether you are likely to be able to make the following dates/venues?
I just found out one of them conflicts with Paul Kelly AND Steve Earle
(11/11/17)...whom I would probably go and see over my gig too!
But I'm sure people have other plans made well in advance...
so it would be good to get an idea of whether the folliowing
dates are going to work for everybody that would normally come!
So if your interested let Louis know on facebook

My Van - On the road - Travel/Accom - Louis Tillet

Louis Tillet is one of those Australian Artist who so many
people have never heard of, which is criminal of course
because he is incredible and also one of so many doing it
tough. We just don't reward artists in this country and
many find it hard to do what they do well and get somewhere
with it.
So if you haven't heard the kind of music Louis makes
check out the video below and if your familiar with his
work or enjoy the video check out the crowd funding page
he has set up to get back on the road.
These things work and as with the recent riptides crowd
funding project that funded the release of their 1st album
that was only released as an Ep originally, they product
great outcomes.

No Dance - Carnival of Souls, ep

Described as an acoustic, studio side project put together by Damiem
Lovelock while his band the Celibate Rilles was taking a break.
Damien along with Louis Tillet and Brett Myers recorded this
3 track ep which includes a very early version of Just Skin,
a song from the end repertoire and later part of the Died Pretty
canon. It seems each person provided one song to the project,
the Louis song Swimming in the mirror was later released on
the excellent hot records compilation High Temperature,
that I posted last year here

Thanks again to Chuck and his fabulous record collection.

Louis Tillet - Soliloquy

Another beautiful haunting album from the master
Louis Tillet. Soliloquy released in 2006 is his most recent

It is as John puts its great to hear Louis strip it back
to just him and his piano.

complete my Louis collection.

Louis Tillett - The Hanged Man

John a regular reader and contributor here a the Striped Sunlight

That is a bargain but I'm wondering what kind of record shop
puts such an album in the bargain bin.
This 2005 release from the much underrated Louis Tillett is
his usual brilliant stuff.
Thanks John for ripping and sharing.
Oh and bargain hunting.

Wet Taxis - From The Archives

A request from Brutusound who runs a wonderful
blog you can find
Here

Louis Tillett's first band - Vinyl LP, Test Pressing

Louis Tillett's first band, the Wet Taxis, commenced life
as an experimental outfit in the manner of fellow
Sydneysiders Severed Heads and Scattered Order
before taking on a tougher 1960s-influenced direction.
Their classic debut single on the Hot label, ‘C’mon’ (1984),
boasted an authentic garage/R&B sound heavily influenced
by such American garage/punk bands as the
Moving Sidewalks, We the People and the Chocolate
Watchband plus legendary Australian group the Atlantics
(who originally issued the song as ‘Come On’ in 1967).
Alongside the likes of Died Pretty, the Celibate Rifles,
the Lime Spiders, the New Christs, the Hoodoo Gurus
and the Eastern Dark, the Wet Taxis came to epitomise
the Australian garage rock sound and aesthetic of the 1980s.
The band’s only album was the appropriately named

an effort.

Louis tillet - Cry Against The Faith

This 1999 release of Louis Tillet is a wonderful record, beautiful

this is in the league of its own.

Louis Tillet & Charlie Owen - Midnight Rain

Louis Tillet is one of those artists that should be better known,
his rich baritone voice, his beautiful haunting songs,
unusual approach to music and his incredible piano playing,
puts him in a league of his own. Charlie Owen likewise has
carved out a career with Tex Perkins and the Beasts of Bourbon,
playing wonderful organic blues that connects with Louis both
when he's being ambient or loud,
This is a special album, originally released as a Limited Edition
of 2.000 copies, later released as a 2 CD set including tracks
from the earlier album they did together, The Ugly Truth.
A beautiful lush record that both surprises and delights.

Louis Tillett : Vocals, Piano, Hammond Organ,
Roland Synthetizer, Soprano Saxophone.

Charlie Owen : All Guitars, and everything on 5
