A Blog to share the sometimes rare, sometimes unusual,
but always sublime music from Australia,
from the 70s to now.
With a particular interest in Brisbane Music
Thanks a thousand times ! A former brisbanite (and RF fan) friend - now living in Oslo - is coming to visit my wife and I next week -> this will be a nice greeting gift I guess... Marc from France
@ anon- files check out o.k. this end. Both "snake skin lady" and "strawberry wine" were performed at this gig. The original version of strawberry wine can be found streamed on the john steel singers myspace http://www.myspace.com/thejohnsteelsingers
Robert has produced their upcoming cd as chatted about in the file ive tagged '24 brisbane band j.s.s.'
He has performed this song several times to my knowledge. The "uplate" concert version can be found elsewhere on this blog. He also performed it a bushfire benefit gig at the tivoli in brisbane.
@bob - walking the streets of paris is a valid excuse for missing this gig... but only just! I personally would have post-poned the wedding/ honeymoon - but i guess thats why im still a grumpy old single nerd too attached to his puter.. ahhh my precious :)
On the 17 august 2008, Robert and Andrew Stafford (author of Pig City)had an "In Conversation.." session at the state library of Queensland. I missed it but only the other day saw a link to its download.

It goes for 77mins and well worth a listen for the fans.
Coming to you from Brisbane the home of the striped sunlight sound, this is a my little place in cyberspace to share the music of Australia which may have passed you by. Mostly rare and out of print albums from artists that never made it into the mainstream and my recollections concerning them. If you like something please leave a message in the comments, if you don't, maybe you'd rather not see your music here, or maybe my recollections are wrong, please leave a message too. If you find any links no longer work please let me know and I'll fix it I'm on myspace you can find me at myspace.com/stripedsunlightsound and if you prefer facebook.com/people/Bob

Hi, The song is "Snake Skin Lady" not "Strawberry Wine". Maybe you want to fix that on the CD notes.

Thank You from the States!
Wow, great show and great recording. Great to hear Robert Vickers again.
My favourite part could be when the usher asks for the video recording to stop. Wonderful work keeping the dat recorder hidden - we all thank you!
Thanks so much! Fantastic to hear this. :)
Thanx for sharing!

Nice work - I stuffed up my recording (should have replaced batteries before going) - but thought you might save my bacon... ;)
Cheers
